1920's

+The Almaville, Huntsville Community of Franklin, Tennessee did not have a church for black people to worship. The Christians in the community cried out to God for a place to worship. God heard their prayers.

1929

+God sent preacher, Reverend Scott Clayborne from Mt. Lebanon M.B. Church, Brentwood, Tennessee. Reverend Clayborne began to preach the gospel in homes of the saints. Permission was given by Williamson County Board of Education to use the one room community school for worship. Clayborne Tabernacle was founded.

1930

+Christian community began to build a house for God.

1931

+Clayborne Tabernacle Church Building was erected. Rev. Scott Clayborne was the first pastor. He taught love, and led many men, women, and children to Christ. Auxiliaries were formed, and fellowship programs with other churches were held. Rev. Clayborne labored untiringly for the Lord at Clayborne Tabernacle for 32 years.

1960

+Rev. Clayborne retired due to his age and failing health. He continued to live the life he preached until God called him home, July 2, 1968. After the retirement of Rev. Scott Clayborne, the Rev. Ollie R. Parks, was sent from God to pastor the congregation. He carried on the tradition of preaching love, and the gospel. The church grew spiritually and in numbers under his leadership.

1969

+Rev. Parks resigned from pastorate at Clayborne Tabernacle. Rev. Alvin Smith was elected Pastor of Clayborne Tabernacle. He exemplified great leadership and carried the tradition further by assigning the Communion Sunday of the the Lord's Supper to the first Sunday of the month and founding the Young Adult Choir.

1971

+Rev. Smith resigned from the pastorate at Clayborne Tabernacle due to his health. God sent Rev. John R. Holt, who lead the congregation out of the wilderness to greater heights. He held true to the tradition by his dynamic reaching which gave the church new life. New structures were built, many souls were won, and the church grew spiritually. Several servants were called to the ministry under his teachings, to include the present pastor. From his vision of 40 years:

1973

+The church purchased a three acre tract at 147 Trinity Road, across the street from the first church to build a new House of Worship.

2011

+May 15, Retirement ceremonies held for Pastor Holt and served as Interim Pastor until the call of the Present Pastor, Jerry L. Brooks, in April, 2012.

June 10, 2012

+Rev. Jerry L. Brooks was installed as the fifth pastor of Clayborne Tabernacle. Before this call of God, Pastor Brooks was a deacon here at Clayborne Tabernacle, and later became an Associate Minister. Clayborne Tabernacle is “Home” to him, this is where he was raised in the Lord from an early age. In giving glory to God, his favorite saying is “There’s no place like Home”.

Pastor Brooks has a vision that Clayborne is "A Church Without Walls"; we as Christians are the church wherever we go; bringing the world into the church without worldly principles. He preaches the Gospel, teaches the living word of God, and is equipping the servants of God for the service of God. He is holding to the tradition of the founder and other pastoral servants, of saving souls.
